The Role:

SoFi Invest is SoFi’s new investment platform that includes our market-leading robo-advisor, online brokerage (stock, options and ETF trading), and crypto investing products.  We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Accounts and Funding team.  You’ll be learning, optimizing, architecting, and scaling the critical functionality around onboarding Invest accounts and funding accounts for Investing. This involves challenging integrations with outside systems and implementing fraud controls to minimize loss.  You’ll have a unique opportunity to be at the core of SoFi Invest systems and experience numerous engineering challenges.

On our team, you will be in the middle of it all – implementing functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, maintaining the health of our code, and continually growing as an engineer. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a solid sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and a strong team player. At SoFi, we pride ourselves on the collaboration between Product, Design and Engineering and so you will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, deploying and continual improvement and evolution. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Delivering resilient and scalable code
  • Owning and ideating on technical solutions for product requirements and user stories with minimal supervision
  • Participating in code and design reviews
  • Generating ideas for new initiatives and technologies
  • Communicating engineering concepts and efforts with outside stakeholders in product marketing, operations, business, legal, and compliance
  • Working in a fast-moving, highly-collaborative environment across multiple office locations

What You’ll Need:

  • You need to be graduated and have your Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field by December 2022, and should be able to start working by April 2023
  • No more than 12 months of professional full-time relevant work experience (excluding internships or research assistant roles)
  • Reside in the United States and attend a university in the US.
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, Algorithms and Data structures. Affinity for solving problems and diving deep into the details
  • Our core stack is  Java/ Kotlin/ Spring / PostgreSQL. Familiarity with any OOP language and an understanding of relational databases is a great start. Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests.
  • Agile Development Experience
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others, and get stuff done
  • Solid sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with microservice architecture 
  • Experience with API Design 
  • 1 year programming experience, ideally on a modern stack. Internships and relevant school experience will be considered
  • Proficiency in Java/Kotlin
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
